4th graders were able to work with 2nd graders during a STEAM activity about landforms. They used candy bars to recreate how mountains are made and used sand trays with marbles to show how land moves. We want to thank Ric's and Dollar General for the donations of the candy bars!

In science today, sixth graders investigated how the weight and the strength of a push affects how an object will move after a collision. They used empty and weighted pop cans and different size binder clips to engage with force and motion!

In 6th grade Math the students have been working on a unit called, Hands on Equations. This unit helps empower the students' thinking and using their Algebra skills. By the end of the unit the students have become great problem solvers in better understanding of how to solve and find a variable.

Some 4th graders (and a lot of adults) were excited to see Punxsutawney Phil predict an early spring! The kids had fun seeing how the community celebrated in Gobbler's Knob, Pennsylvania!

5th graders helped celebrate Ms. Mindy's Birthday today!

Third graders used Edison robots to create snowplows in STEAM lab. The goal was to clear the "snow and ice" from the parking lot in the fewest passes possible. They definitely used their engineering skills to design working Lego plows!

Last week our building celebrated and participated in the Great Kindness Challenge by completing as many kindness acts as possible. We also took a whole school building photo spelling out the word "KIND."

Here are our January students of the month! These students represented positive character strengths throughout the month of January! Congratulations

School Lunch menu for Thursday, January 25th: Hamburger & Fries and Second Choice will be Pizza Lunchable.

Mr. DeRosia's 5th grade class visited South School to collaborate and lead 1st graders in a STEAM lesson with Mrs. Hindbaugh-Marr!!

Mr. DeRosia's fifth graders helped first graders tackle some STEAM challenges about light today. It proved to be a fun collaboration for all involved!

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Social Intelligence. Social intelligence means you are aware of other people’s thoughts and feelings. You understand why they do things.
“The single most important lesson I learned in 25 years of talking every single day to people, was that there’s a common denominator in our human experience. The common denominator I found in every single interview is we want to be validated. We want to be understood.”--OPRAH WINFREY

4th graders worked together to build snowmen and extended their learning of fractions with M & M's!

Third graders were challenged to create shovels using only one piece of paper (and tape). They tested their designs by scooping up packing peanuts and plastic tiles. These engineers did a great job solving this problem!

At North Elementary, our 3rd grade students participate in engaging opportunities to benefit our community. Thanks to the donations from our families, the kids were able to make and donate blankets to Child Advocacy to support their program.
