Thank you to all of our community donors and volunteers who helped get our school woods ready for student explorers! Mrs. MacLaren's class had a great time learning about seeds, soil, and pond diversity this morning!
Sometimes when we are about the business of learning, we get to use clipboards! We are "writing" the room finding, reading, and writing magic "e" words!
Our 2nd grade school woods field trip was an enormous success! Thank you to the PTO, community members, and Mrs. Hindbaugh-Marr, for your donations, dedication, and efforts in revitalizing the school woods. Our students were able to participate in different engaging hands-on experiences, which led to exciting discoveries!
We honored our Students of the Month for their Enthusiasm at school. We are proud of these Junior Jackets for setting a positive example for their peers.
Our IHS graduating seniors were able to walk the halls of South Elementary one more time this afternoon. What an incredibly powerful example they set for our youngest Yellowjackets! Congratulations Class of 2024!
Today we used our book bags to practice "Read To Someone." Reading to a partner is fun and helps us become more fluent readers! Ask your child what EEKK means!
Students in Mrs. Gulick's class accomplished different challenges with shapes today! We had lots of proud 2nd graders!! 😁👏

First graders are learning how animals inspire many human ideas. After watching a video about the protective armor that armadillos have, they were challenged to create their own protective sport gear. We had lots of chuckles with this challenge!
We have completed the letters and sounds and are now learning about word parts like 'ing'. 👑
After reading the story Farmers' Market Day, Mrs.Whitford's students built fort board stands and turned the STEAM lab into a farmers' market!
Today was an exciting day for our 2nd graders as they visited North Elementary School. They met Mrs. Rayburn, 3rd grade teachers, students, and had the opportunity to ask questions. Mrs. Napieralski, our math interventionist, gave all 2nd grade students a tour around the building, too! Hopefully, our 2nd graders feel more comfortable with their upcoming transition. 💙💛🐝
Kindergarten Potter Park Zoo Trip 2024 is complete! We had perfect weather, awesome parents/chaperones & students, and so much fun visiting all of the animals! Thank you Ithaca PTO for providing admission cost for each student. Thank you Ithaca Public Schools & Transportation for providing a safe and relaxing bus ride!

Today, Mrs. MacLaren's class was awarded their extra recess that they won through the PTO carnival. It was a perfect day for some extra time outside!
Mr. Tom Clark, visited with a Kindergarten classroom to share some of his many adventures. Tom is the Gratiot County Animal Control officer that serves the whole county in keeping residents safe and looks out for the welfare of our pets.
He taught the children how to ask for permission before approaching a pet and what to do if a stranger with a pet approaches them.
Mr. Clark also demonstrated how he uses equipment in the rescue of an animal. He shared how to find pets to adopt from the shelter, use the website Petfinder.com to find exotic pets, and keep updated with
their Facebook page for new arrivals.

Deputy Kennedy Schall visit Mrs. Simcox's kindergarten classroom on Monday! Deputy Schall talked about her job at the Gratiot County Sheriff's Department, showed students all of the tools on her uniform, and encouraged students to think about a career in law enforcement & corrections! Thank you Deputy Schall & Gratiot County Sheriff's Department for all you do to keep us safe!
