South Elementary is "Wild About Reading!" Wednesday, March 8 students are invited to "Read A Hat Day!" Students may wear a hat with school appropriate words on it. Friday, March 10 is "Spots or Scales Day!" Students are encouraged to wear clothing to show your favorite rainforest animal!
Congratulations to the Barnes family for winning the South Elementary Book Fair prize basket drawing! Thanks to all of the students and families for supporting our library!! And thanks to our community members who donated to our library so all students were able to receive books. Our book fair was a big success!
Second graders read The Great Kapok Tree in STEAM. They then used their science, engineering, and art skills to collaboratively build kapok trees and all the rainforest animals that used them in the story.

First graders used their problem solving skills to construct working pulley systems in STEAM.
Unfortunately, with the bad weather, we've been stuck inside all day...but these 2nd grade students still got to enjoy free time with friends.
First graders in Mrs. Schaeding's class collaborated together to create writing projects about life in the future.
First graders in Mrs. Schaeding's class looked into the future and wrote about what life will be like when they are 100 years old.
Ithaca public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 23, 2023.
4th graders presented an engaging hands on lesson to 2nd graders about erosion. We love interacting and collaborating with older students through this engaging opportunity. Thank you 4th graders!
Ithaca Public Schools Kindergarten Registration is just around the corner. Please contact the South Office if you have an incoming kindergarten student at 989-875-4741. Registration is on April 20, 4-7:30 PM at South Elementary.

There will not be Latch Key on March 1st, April 20th and June 7th.
On March 1st the gym will be used for the South Book Fair Night.
On April 2oth the gym will be used for Kindergarten registration.
June 7th is the last day of school, if that date changes, we will update.
